Sometimes some opinions in NYT are worthwhile

I don't mind the New York Times when they, at rare moments, say something that I agree with. This opinion piece from Dick Cavett (ht Instapundit) makes sense to me. I've often wondered why the military chose to go the route of teaching "sensitivity" when the more militaristic route would have been to go the "insensitivity" route. Think about it, what a terrific killing machine would it be to have a military that was completely "insensitive."

Speaking of Tax Dollars being wasted...

More "Unexpectedly" Statements

It may be my opinion, but the phrase "Unexpectedly" and "Unexpected" is used more often than not. Just who are these "Experts" making the predictions? Why are the results so often "unexpected?"
As I told my son one time when making a string of poor decisions, "Maybe you should just do the opposite of what you think you should? - You would be better off.

I'm now thinking that the "experts" making predictions should take this advice.

We are so screwed! Our enemies only have to send one lame brain over and then our court system will open up all our sensitive intelligence to them. It is amazing that the Ruskies and Chicoms didn't think of this during the Cold War.

Watching this video statement from Speaker Pelosi. She seems to me to be trying to tell many Americans that their words can hurt.

Of particular note, the phase, "...some of the ears that it is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statement may assume."

50 years of math in the US

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters , but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

Further Evidence that Government Education is not working as well as it should

Government Schools (aka Public Schools) are wasting a lot of our childrens' time. I've known for a long time that the focus of school isn't so much education as it is indoctrination - Indoctricnation into everything liberal. Unfortunately, liberalism isn't too keen on self-reliance or of individualism. The focus is on "group think," on "group identity" and government-reliance. This article is a good read and demonstrates how the engine, that was education, has left the tracks.
